A well-established and award-winning property finance lender is expanding into the Commercial Mortgage space — and we’re looking for a Commercial Mortgage Underwriting Manager to lead from the front.

Our client is a fast-growing, specialist property finance lender with a reputation for excellence across the bridging and buy-to-let markets. With strong funding lines and a dynamic leadership team, they’re now launching their Commercial Mortgage offering — and you’ll be instrumental in that journey.

The Commercial Mortgage Underwriting Manager Role

You’ll lead underwriting on complex commercial mortgage applications, manage relationships with brokers and solicitors, and shape the wider credit function. As the division grows, you’ll play a key role in mentoring underwriters and building a high-performance team.

This is a front-foot leadership role — strategic, collaborative, and high-impact.

• Underwrite commercial term mortgage loans from application to completion
• Make confident, high-value credit decisions within personal mandate
• Present complex or high-risk cases to credit committee
• Assess risk across various asset types (investment and owner-occupied)
• Collaborate with brokers, valuers, solicitors, and internal teams
• Develop and refine credit policy, lending appetite, and process improvements
• Manage and mentor a growing team of underwriters (team leadership experience preferred)

Who We’re Looking For

• Experience at a lender or bank offering commercial term mortgages (essential)
• Proven track record underwriting owner-occupied and investment property loans
• Personal mandate (£500k–£1m+) or credit committee experience
• Strong commercial acumen, risk assessment, and deal structuring skills
• Confident communicator and decisive problem solver
• Experience managing an underwriting team is preferred — but we will also consider a high-performing Senior Underwriter ready to step up into management
