Salary: Circa £550 p/d outside ir35 depending on experience

Opportunity: Manage Contract delivery in a post-contract award environment working on a massive infrastructure construction framework, specifically NEC4 ECC Option C.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Keeping the project within approved spending limits
  2. Cost management and project management support
  3. Managing information flow - instructing work and not instructing work
  4. Building relationships with stakeholders
  5. Harmonising internal and external stakeholder interests
  6. Applying CMAR principles

The Commercial Manager will oversee the day-to-day commercial aspects of our projects. Using your skills, knowledge, and experience, you will provide expert advice, manage and monitor all processes, procedures, and negotiations related to contracts and client performance, ensuring compliance with legislative and contractual requirements.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Extensive experience in post-contract delivery
  • Preparation and management of project budgets, reconciliation, and avoidance of compensation events
  • Collaborating with the Project Manager to oversee commercial and contractual management
  • Reviewing and advising on contracts, managing risk, and maximizing operational performance, including early warnings and notifications
  • Procurement and management of subcontractors
  • Leading negotiations with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors for favorable outcomes
  • Staying updated with industry best practices, legislation, and trends
  • Monitoring commercial performance and preparing reports for senior management and the Board
  • Managing monthly applications, forecasts, and cash flow in coordination with finance
  • Producing accurate monthly CVRs and consolidating them into management accounts
  • Negotiating final accounts with clients and subcontractors
  • Representing stakeholders at meetings and events
  • Collaborating with other departments and senior management to meet strategic targets
  • Performing additional duties as required

Requirements to succeed:

  • 10-15+ years experience in a Senior Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management role
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and financial principles
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record in financial management and cost control
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects
  • Understanding of risk analysis and management
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as needed
