About Our Client

We are partnered with a major UK main contractor operating at the forefront of the nuclear and regulated infrastructure sector. The business delivers highly complex, safety‑critical programmes across nuclear new build, decommissioning and long‑term framework agreements for government bodies and asset owners.

With a strong London and UK‑wide presence, the contractor is recognised for its robust commercial governance, technical capability and ability to deliver within heavily regulated environments. Their nuclear division is supported by long‑term secured work and a pipeline of nationally significant projects.

The Opportunity

The business is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to take a senior leadership role across nuclear projects and frameworks. This position is critical to ensuring strong commercial control, contractual compliance and financial performance across complex, multi‑year programmes.

You will work closely with senior leadership, project directors and client representatives, providing commercial leadership from pre‑contract through delivery and final account.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead commercial strategy, governance and reporting across nuclear projects
  • Manage NEC contracts, change control, compensation events and valuations
  • Provide cost forecasting, risk management and financial assurance
  • Lead subcontract procurement, negotiation and commercial administration
  • Support dispute resolution and commercial negotiations
  • Mentor and manage commercial teams
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security and commercial frameworks
Required Experience & Background
  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior QS within a main contractor
  • Strong background in nuclear, defence, energy or regulated infrastructure
  • Excellent understanding of NEC contracts and contractor‑side commercial management
  • Experience leading commercial teams on large, complex programmes
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • MRICS or equivalent desirable
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organised with strong commercial judgement
