Job summary

TLP Recruitment seeks an experienced Container Commercial Manager to join a Felixstowe operation. This customer-facing role requires deep knowledge of container transport, strong relationships, and a proactive commercial approach to grow both existing accounts and new business.

The successful candidate will develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline, prepare quotations and proposals, and work closely with Operations to deliver commercially viable solutions.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of container transport and the Felixstowe market.
• Proven commercial, sales or account management experience.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Ability to self-motivate and generate opportunities.
• A track record of building long‑term customer relationships.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join an established container transport operation in Felixstowe.

This is a customer-facing role for someone who understands the container transport market and can develop existing relationships while creating new commercial opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and grow existing customer accounts.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities.
• Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
• Develop relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines and importers.
• Prepare quotations, rate reviews and commercial proposals.
• Attend customer meetings and industry events.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong knowledge of container transport and the Felixstowe market.
• Existing industry relationships and contacts would be advantageous.
• Proven commercial, sales or account management experience.
• Confident developing new business as well as managing existing customers.
• Commercially aware with a good understanding of transport pricing and margins.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Self-motivated and comfortable generating your own opportunities.
• Able to build long‑term customer relationships rather than simply chase short‑term sales.
