Bennett and Game Recruitment LTD is seeking a Senior Transport Planner in Felixstowe to manage daily container movements, coordinating with drivers, customers and depots to keep operations running smoothly.

You will monitor movements, ensure compliance and use port systems to optimise planning in a busy logistics environment. This is a permanent, full-time role with opportunities for development and progression.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in container transport planning or operations.
• Strong knowledge of Felixstowe port and container transport.
• Solid understanding of drivers' hours and transport compliance.
• Ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-paced operation.

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily container movements, managing drivers, vehicles and workloads.
• Manage port collections, deliveries and VBS bookings.
• Monitor container availability, vehicle movements and port systems.
• Liaise with drivers, customers, shipping lines and depots throughout the day.
• Proactively manage delays and operational issues to keep plans efficient.
• Monitor driver hours and ensure transport plans remain compliant.
• Utilise subcontractor and agency resource when required.
• Maintain accurate transport system updates and effective handovers.

Senior Transport Planner

Location: Felixstowe

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 DOE + Company Car or Car Allowance, with flexibility for the right candidate

Our client is a well-established container transport and logistics provider specialising in container haulage solutions.

Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to join their busy operations team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced container transport professional to take on a senior planning role within a busy and established operation, managing the day-to-day planning of container movements while working closely with drivers, customers, shipping lines and depots.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily container movements, managing drivers, vehicles and workloads
• Manage port collections, deliveries and VBS bookings
• Monitor container availability, vehicle movements and port systems
• Liaise with drivers, customers, shipping lines and depots throughout the day
• Proactively manage delays and operational issues, ensuring transport plans run efficiently
• Monitor driver hours and ensure transport plans remain compliant

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years' experience within container transport planning or operations
• Strong knowledge of the Port of Felixstowe and container transport
• Good understanding of drivers' hours and transport compliance
• Strong planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Confident communicator with drivers, customers and suppliers
• Experience using transport and port-related systems
• Ability to prioritise workloads within a fast-paced operational environment
• Commercially aware with a strong customer-service focus

Salary & Benefits

• £40,000 - £45,000 DOE, with flexibility for the right candidate

• Shift pattern with start times of 07:00, 08:00 or 09:00, finishing at 16:00, 17:00 or 18:00 respectively
