Mace is seeking a highways project lead for a North West local authority, focused on reactive, preventative and planned maintenance to preserve the highway network. You will work with the asset management team to plan, deliver and monitor schemes that extend asset life and safety.
You will apply health and safety expertise, lead delivery with senior leadership, and build strong client and stakeholder relationships while developing colleagues and driving best practice across projects.

This role will be working for a local authority client in North west of England and will be dedicated to the Highways maintenance who are responsible for the delivery of reactive, preventative and planned maintenance activities working closely with the asset management team, They undertake maintenance interventions identified through asset management processes, helping to preserve the condition of the highway network and prevent deterioration before more extensive and costly repairs are required.
The highways planned maintenance team is responsible for developing and delivering programmes of preventative and structural maintenance across the highway network. This includes carriageway resurfacing, surface treatments, footway improvements, drainage works, and other asset maintenance activities designed to extend the life of highway infrastructure. The team uses condition data, inspections, and asset management principles to identify priorities, programme works, manage budgets, and oversee scheme delivery. By investing in planned maintenance, the team helps maintain safe and reliable roads and footways, reduces the need for more costly reactive repairs, and supports the long-term sustainability of the highway network.
