Job summary

Professional Construction Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Commercial/Pre-Construction Manager for a freelance, self-employed, full-time office-based role in Harrow, London. You will manage commercial activities, engage directly with clients and QSs, and help secure future work.

You will develop opportunities, coordinate with estimators and QSs, and act as the main commercial contact for key projects while driving the growth of the order book. Immediate start and potential for extension.

Qualifications

• Commercially driven and proactive in a client facing environment.
• Experience in groundworks, formwork, RC frames or main contractor/subcontractor settings.
• Tendering and securing new work experience.

Commercial / Pre-Construction Manager

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Commercial / Pre-Construction Manager to join an established construction business based in Harrow.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded construction professional with a strong understanding of the main contractor and subcontractor market, who is confident dealing directly with clients, QSs and construction professionals.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the commercial side of the business while helping to develop new opportunities and secure future work.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage relationships with existing and prospective clients and Quantity Surveyors.
• Handle incoming enquiries, tenders and opportunities from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Review and coordinate tender opportunities with estimators and QSs.
• Follow up quotations and maintain regular communication with clients.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the construction sector.
• Develop strong, long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
• Coordinate estimators, QSs and other commercial team members.
• Assist with pricing strategy and commercial decision-making.
• Monitor market opportunities and identify potential projects and clients.
• Help grow the company's order book and contribute to overall business development.
• Act as a key commercial point of contact between the business, clients and supply chain.

About You

We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, proactive and confident in a client-facing environment.

Ideally, you will have experience within:

• Groundworks
• Formwork
• Reinforced concrete
• RC frames
• Main contractor / subcontractor environments
• Commercial management and/or pre-construction
• Tendering and securing new work

You should have a strong understanding of how the construction market operates and be comfortable picking up the phone, speaking to clients and QSs, following up opportunities and developing relationships.

The ability to coordinate estimators and QSs, manage multiple enquiries and ultimately help convert opportunities into secured work is essential.

The Opportunity

The initial arrangement will be on a freelance / self-employed basis, ideally full-time and office-based in Harrow.

This is intended to be a hands-on role where you can work closely with the business, make an immediate impact and help shape the company's future workload. There is potential for the arrangement to develop further depending on performance and mutual fit.
