Job summary

Logical Personnel Solutions is seeking a Commercial Manager for a groundworks and civil engineering contractor. The role entails ownership of the full commercial lifecycle from pre-construction through to final accounts and live project delivery.

You will lead the commercial function, manage tenders, review contracts, oversee CVRs, forecasting and reporting, and provide clear commercial insight to Directors to drive project success.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction, groundworks or civil engineering.
• Strong experience with JCT and NEC contracts, CVRs, forecasting, procurement, tendering, claims and contract administration.
• Practical, commercially minded and able to own the function.

Commercial Manager

Salary: Up to £90,000

About the Company

Our client is an established groundworks and civil engineering contractor delivering projects across the region. With a growing workload and ambitious plans, they are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to take ownership of the commercial function and help strengthen the business as it continues to grow.

The Role

This is a hands‑on position with responsibility for the full commercial lifecycle, from pre-construction and estimating through to live project delivery and final accounts.

You will work closely with the Directors, QS, estimating and operational teams to improve commercial processes, reporting and project control.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial function across the business
• Manage tendering, estimating and pre-construction
• Review and negotiate JCT and NEC contracts
• Oversee CVRs, forecasting and project reporting
• Manage variations, claims, notices and final accounts
• Improve commercial processes and ensure they are consistently followed
• Support and manage the QS and estimating team
• Work closely with operations to identify commercial risks and opportunities
• Provide the Directors with clear and accurate commercial reporting
• Ensure projects are commercially controlled from start to finish

About You

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager or Senior Commercial professional from a construction, groundworks or civil engineering background.

You will need strong experience across JCT and NEC contracts, CVRs, forecasting, procurement, tendering, claims and contract administration.

Most importantly, you will be practical, commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership rather than simply overseeing from the sidelines.
