Job summary

Morson Group, Sizewell C in Suffolk, is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial governance across major civils and infrastructure within a NEC target cost framework.

You will build a strong commercial team, manage NEC administration, cost reporting, forecast CVR, and drive value for the client and supply chain, with opportunities for progression on the Sizewell C programme.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in commercial management within major infrastructure or civils projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4, ideally Option C target cost contracts.
• Experience managing compensation events, early warnings, payment mechanisms and subcontract administration.
• Strong commercial/financial understanding: CVR, forecasting, cost control, cash flow, final accounts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in nuclear/energy/highways projects is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the commercial team with appropriate resource across current and future work packages.
• Manage NEC contract administration, including early warnings, compensation events, notices and contractual communications.
• Establish and maintain robust commercial controls: cost reporting, forecasting, CVR, cash flow and value recognition.
• Lead applications for payment, measurement, substantiation and reconciliation against target cost.
• Manage subcontract procurement, commercial strategy, payment assessment and change control.
• Identify, assess and manage commercial change, including programme and cost impacts.
• Support risk and opportunity management with quantified risks and mitigations.
• Produce accurate commercial reports, KPIs and forecasts for project and senior management.
• Maximise commercial value while maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships.
• Support mobilisation and commercial planning for future Sizewell C packages.
• Mentor and develop junior commercial team members.

Commercial Manager - Sizewell C

Morson Edge are currently recruiting for an experienced Commercial Manager to join a major infrastructure programme at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's most significant low-carbon energy programmes, supporting major civils, highways and complex infrastructure packages across the wider development.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in the commercial management of framework activities, providing strong commercial governance across project teams, subcontractors and supply chain partners.

The Role

As Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of projects delivered under an NEC target cost framework.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and develop the commercial team, ensuring appropriate resource is available across current and future work packages.
• Manage NEC contract administration, including early warnings, compensation events, notices and contractual communications.
• Establish and maintain robust commercial controls, including cost reporting, forecasting, CVR, cash flow and value recognition.

About You

Were looking for an experienced Commercial Manager with a strong background in major civils, infrastructure, highways, energy or other complex construction environments.

You will ideally have:

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in a commercial management role within major infrastructure or complex civils projects.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4, ideally Option C target cost contracts.
• Experience managing compensation events, early warnings, payment mechanisms and subcontract administration.
• Strong commercial and financial understanding, including CVR, forecasting, cost control, cash flow and final accounts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience of nuclear, energy, highways, earthworks, structures or drainage projects would be advantageous.
• RICS, CICES or equivalent professional membership would be beneficial.
• Strong IT and reporting skills, including Microsoft Office and commercial management systems.
