You’ll drive month-end close, balance sheet integrity and insightful commentary on performance versus budgets, while challenging investments and identifying growth opportunities. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Qualified Accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA certification.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end activities across key brand cost centres and post journals.

Commercial Management Accountant - Brands Global Business

London Hybrid Working

Finance Business Partnering Commercial Cost Control Brand Finance

Salary up to 60,000 + Bonuses + Benefits + Gym onsite

Start Date - ideally within 1 Month - 6 weeks for handover

We're partnering with a leading global retail and lifestyle business to recruit a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys getting into the detail whilst influencing decisions at a senior level.

This is a highly visible role sitting within the Brand Finance team, supporting departments including Marketing, Creative, Events, Merchandising and Head Office functions.

You'll combine strong financial control and month-end accounting with genuine business partnering, helping stakeholders understand spend, challenge investment decisions and identify opportunities to drive growth.

This role would suit someone who loves being involved in the business, enjoys stakeholder interaction and isn't afraid to ask questions or challenge thinking.

What You'll Be Doing

Financial Control & Reporting

• Ownership of month-end accounting activities across key brand cost centres
• Preparation and posting of journals
• Balance sheet reconciliations and bank reconciliations
• Reviewing accruals, prepayments and cost allocations
• Ensuring financial information is accurate and ready for month-end reporting
• Producing meaningful commentary on actual performance versus budget and prior year

Commercial Cost Management

• Working closely with budget holders across multiple departments
• Supporting and challenging spending decisions
• Identifying risks, opportunities and areas of cost efficiency
• Helping teams understand how investments deliver commercial return
• Providing detailed analysis to support business decisions

Payroll & Head Office Costs

• Managing and controlling Head Office payroll budgets
• Supporting annual salary reviews and bonus processes
• Monitoring headcount and associated costs
• Handling highly confidential payroll and remuneration information with professionalism and discretion

Business Partnering

• Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business
• Attending regular meetings and becoming a trusted commercial partner
• Understanding departmental activities at a detailed operational level
• Translating financial information into meaningful recommendations for non-finance stakeholders
• Supporting planning, forecasting and budgeting processes

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines strong accounting fundamentals with the confidence and curiosity to understand how the business really works.

You'll likely bring:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
• Experience in Management Accounting, Commercial Finance or Cost Control
• Strong month-end experience including journals, reconciliations and balance sheet controls
• Excellent Excel skills with the ability to analyse large data sets
• Experience managing payroll-related costs, headcount budgets or operating expenses
• Strong commercial awareness and an interest in how departments operate
• Confidence working independently and taking ownership
• Ability to build relationships and influence senior stakeholders
• Comfortable working with sensitive and confidential information
• Naturally inquisitive, with a desire to understand the detail behind the numbers
