JMC Legal Recruitment is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join a busy London firm. You will take ownership of larger and more complex disputes, working closely with the Head of Litigation and contributing to growth of the practice.

The role offers autonomy, direct client contact, and opportunities for mentoring junior lawyers, with exposure to High Court and County Court proceedings and a broad commercial disputes caseload.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE (required).
• Strong Commercial Litigation and general dispute resolution experience.
• Comfortable taking ownership of larger and more complex matters.
• Experience of High Court and/or County Court litigation.
• Commercially minded with practical client advice.
• Autonomous working while collaborating with colleagues on larger matters.
• Willing to mentor more junior lawyers and contribute to BD.

Job description

If you’re a Commercial Litigation Solicitor looking for greater responsibility and the opportunity to handle more substantial disputes, this is an opportunity to join an established London firm where you can become a key member of a growing Litigation practice.

The team has a strong junior base and is now looking to add an experienced litigator who can take ownership of larger and more complex matters, work closely with the Head of Litigation and help drive the continued development of the practice.

The Firm

This is a longstanding, full-service London law firm with 16 solicitors alongside paralegals and support staff, operating across three London offices.

The firm acts for both businesses and private individuals, with a broad practice spanning litigation, property, corporate and commercial, family and private client work. This provides the Litigation team with its own established client base alongside opportunities for referrals from across the wider firm.

It has a particularly stable and close-knit culture, with low staff turnover and a track record of developing people internally. Its relatively compact structure also means strong lawyers can become highly visible within the practice and make a meaningful contribution to its future direction.

There is no rigid promotion structure, with progression driven primarily by performance and capability. The current Head of Litigation is a good example of this, having originally joined the firm as a paralegal before training, qualifying and progressing through the practice to Partner. With longer-term succession opportunities developing within the firm, there is genuine scope for an ambitious lawyer to build their career with the practice.

The Role

You will join a busy Litigation practice handling a broad range of commercial and civil disputes for businesses and individuals.

The work includes commercial and contractual disputes, company and partnership matters, professional negligence claims, insolvency-related disputes and contentious property matters. The team has experience handling substantial High Court and County Court proceedings, alongside mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

There is also exposure to more complex company and partnership disputes, including shareholder actions, unfair prejudice petitions and matters requiring urgent interim remedies such as injunctions.

You will sit between the Head of Litigation and the more junior members of the team, taking responsibility for larger and more complex cases while working closely with the Head of Department where appropriate.

The role offers considerable autonomy and direct client contact, alongside the opportunity to support more junior lawyers as they develop. You will also be encouraged to contribute to business development, strengthen existing client relationships and play a role in growing the Commercial Litigation practice.

The Candidate

• Qualified Solicitor with at least 3 years' PQE
