JMC Legal Recruitment is representing a West End/busy London Disputes team seeking a Property & Commercial Litigation Solicitor (3+ PQE). You will handle a mixed caseload with a 70/30 split between Property Litigation and Commercial Litigation, advising developers, landlords and tenants, and developing your broader commercial dispute expertise.
You’ll work autonomously on matters, while collaborating with colleagues and contributing to business development within the firm’s client base.
If you’re a litigator looking for a genuinely mixed disputes role, this is an opportunity to join an established London practice where you can continue developing your Property Litigation expertise while building greater exposure to Commercial Litigation.
The current caseload is weighted towards Property Litigation, although the Commercial Litigation side of the practice is growing. This creates a particularly good opportunity for someone who already has experience across both areas and wants to develop into a broader commercial disputes lawyer over the coming years.
This is an established West End law firm with a broad commercial and private client practice and a longstanding client base.
The firm offers a supportive environment where lawyers are trusted to take responsibility for their work while still benefiting from close collaboration with colleagues. The structure gives Associates the opportunity to work directly with clients and senior lawyers rather than operating within a heavily layered team.
The Disputes team reflects this approach, with lawyers running their own cases while regularly working together on larger or more complex matters.
You will join the Disputes team handling a mixed caseload currently comprising approximately 70% Property Litigation and 30% Commercial Litigation, although this balance is expected to evolve as the Commercial Litigation practice continues to develop.
On the property side, you will predominantly act for developers, landlords and commercial tenants, handling matters such as landlord and tenant disputes, dilapidations, business lease renewals, forfeiture and wider property ownership and development-related disputes.
Alongside this, you will work on Commercial Litigation matters including contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, professional negligence claims and other complex commercial disputes. You will have the opportunity to work alongside the Head of Department on more complex matters and build your experience in this area as the practice grows.
You will have autonomy to run your own cases while working collaboratively with the wider team where appropriate. There will also be the opportunity to contribute to business development and develop your own relationships within the firm's client base and wider network.
This is a strong opportunity for a litigator who enjoys Property Litigation but does not want to become restricted to a purely property-focused practice, offering the scope to develop a broader Commercial Litigation skill set within a supportive London team.
