Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Manager in London to lead a team of brokers, develop talent and strengthen insurer relationships. You will drive new business, retention, and performance metrics while ensuring compliance and high-quality client service.

The role focuses on coaching, mentoring and delivering training, with a strong emphasis on FCA compliance, KPI monitoring, and process improvement.

Qualifications

• 6+ years’ commercial insurance brokerage experience.
• Management, leadership, coaching or mentoring experience.
• Extensive knowledge of the Commercial Insurance market.
• Strong relationships with insurers and underwriters.
• Excellent negotiation, objection handling and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of FCA requirements and compliance.
• Proven ability to work towards and exceed targets.
• Excellent organisation, prioritisation and diary management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of commercial insurance brokers.
• Develop and deliver structured training programmes.
• Drive new business, renewal retention and income targets.
• Monitor team performance, KPIs and quality standards.
• Build strong relationships with clients, insurers and underwriters.
• Support brokers with complex and difficult-to-place risks.
• Ensure FCA, compliance and internal quality standards are consistently maintained.
• Review and improve processes, procedures and Fact Findings.
• Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and coaching sessions.
• Produce meaningful daily, weekly and monthly performance reports.
• Support client visits, sales presentations and insurer meetings.
• Lead by example and help the team get challenging risks over the line.
