Commercial Gas Engineer (Catering)

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: GBP42k plus package

Role Overview

We are hiring a Commercial Gas Engineer specializing in Catering. The role involves maintaining and repairing catering gas systems across various regions.

1. Is the salary flexible for the right engineer?
   The salary is fixed; all engineers are paid the same. Senior engineers and Team Leaders earn more.
2. What are the working hours?
   40 hours per week, 08:00 to 16:30, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Flexibility and overtime are required.
3. Is travel time paid and door-to-door?
   Yes, travel is paid door-to-door.
4. Standby requirements and payment?
   Standby varies by region, typically 1 in 5 to 1 in 15, with GBP175 paid from Monday to Sunday.
5. Overtime rates and availability?
   Overtime is paid at X1.5 after 40 hours, Saturdays at X1.5, Sundays and Bank Holidays at X2. Bank Holidays will be compensated with a day in lieu.
6. Annual leave?
   25 days plus Bank Holidays.
7. Is the van available for private use?
   Yes, with opt-in and private mileage around 12p per mile, depending on government recommendations.
8. Area coverage?
   Depends on the region; efforts are made to keep within 1.5 hours of home, but travel may be longer based on business needs.
9. Main contracts?
   Contract caterers, schools, hospitals, stadiums, FM companies, banks, hotels, MOD sites.
10. Additional requirements?
    All engineers require an enhanced DBS clearance.
