Location: Croydon
Salary: £45,630 - £48,100 Per Annum
Overview
First Military Recruitment is working in partnership with our reputable client who is seeking a Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team in Croydon. As a member of the heating maintenance team, you will be responsible for servicing and repairing boilers, associated controls, and equipment within plant rooms. You will also perform fault finding and repairs in client properties. We are looking for a customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills who can work professionally and maintain high standards in accordance with current regulations and legislation.
Our client is a property maintenance and installation organization. The Mechanical arm specializes in the servicing, repair, and installation of gas central heating and hot water services to local authority and Housing Association landlords.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work alongside a team of operatives who service, repair, maintain, and install gas appliances and all associated fittings within client-owned boiler and plant rooms.
- Carry out repairs within dwellings to maintain heating and hot water in accordance with client wishes and current industry guidelines.
- Service, repair, and maintain gas appliances and central heating systems of client premises, including breakdown repairs.
- Ensure the correct resources and materials are supplied for each job.
- Ensure the security and correct operation of plant and equipment supplied, including vehicles, flue gas analysis meters, and mobile data equipment (e.g., PDAs).
- Complete all certification and documentation accurately and in accordance with Data Protection and Information Security regulations.
- Maintain a high level of literacy and numeracy.
- Apply a logical and methodical approach to problem-solving and fault diagnosis.
- Stay focused and concentrate to follow problems through to satisfactory outcomes.
- Deal professionally with potentially upset or angry clients, managing emotional demands effectively.
- Work as part of a team and independently, showing initiative to handle situations and complete tasks.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant Commercial ACS Gas Qualifications
- Certificate of Asbestos Awareness Training
- Previous experience diagnosing faults on Commercial gas appliances
- Full driving license
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage change
- Ability to work alone and within a team
Desirable
- Energy Efficiency knowledge
- Certificates such as DAH1, Unvented Hot Water, WRAS (Water Supply Regulations 1999)
- Training achievements in Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid (1-Day), or similar
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Up-to-date technical knowledge and application
