Salary: GBP45,630 - GBP48,100 Per Annum
Overview:
First Military Recruitment is partnering with a reputable client seeking a Commercial Gas Engineer to join their team in Croydon.
As part of the heating maintenance team, you will service and repair boilers, controls, and equipment within plant rooms, and perform fault finding and repairs in client properties. We seek a customer-focused individual with excellent communication skills, professionalism, and high standards in line with current regulations and legislation.
The client specializes in property maintenance, particularly in servicing, repairing, and installing gas central heating and hot water systems for local authority and Housing Association landlords.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with a team to service, repair, maintain, and install gas appliances and fittings in client-owned boiler and plant rooms, and carry out repairs in dwellings to maintain heating and hot water services.
- Service, repair, and troubleshoot breakdowns of gas appliances and central heating systems on client premises.
- Maintain sound industry knowledge.
- Ensure proper resources and materials are supplied for each job, and secure the operation of plant and equipment, including vehicles, flue gas analysis meters, and mobile data devices (e.g., PDAs).
- Complete all certification and documentation accurately, adhering to Data Protection and Information Security regulations.
- Demonstrate high literacy and numeracy skills.
- Apply logical and methodical problem-solving and fault diagnosis techniques.
- Maintain focus and concentration to resolve issues satisfactorily.
- Handle potentially upset or angry individuals professionally and empathetically.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team, showing initiative in completing tasks.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Relevant Commercial ACS Gas Qualifications.
- Asbestos Awareness Training Certificate.
- Experience diagnosing faults on Commercial gas appliances.
- Full driving license.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to manage change.
- Capability to work independently and within a team.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Energy Efficiency.
- Certificates in DAH1, Unvented Hot Water, WRAS, and other relevant training (e.g., Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid).
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Ability to stay technically updated and apply new knowledge.
