Responsibilities

• Serve as strategic finance business partner to the senior Argos Technology leadership team, providing support, challenge, and insight on all aspects of financial decision-making related to technology investment and BAU spend.
• Manage end-to-end financial performance of the relevant area, ensuring full visibility of costs and value outcomes for Sainsbury’s & Argos.
• Develop financial models to support business cases and investment decisions.
• Oversee management information delivery, contribute to budgeting and forecasting, and ensure governance with accounting policies.
• Drive improved financial decision-making through rigorous analysis and strong controls.

Location: London Store Support Centre & Home – colleagues go into the office 1-2 days per week on average.

Please note, this role currently sits within our Sainsbury’s structure but will move across to our Argos structure under Swift Partners at a cutover point anticipated to be in approximately 18-24 months’ time. We are able to offer this role as either permanent or as an 18M FTC.

As a Finance Manager – Argos Technology Business Partner, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership, providing support, challenge, and insights to shape the financial strategies of a leading retail and technology company. With a focus on delivering high-quality management information, influencing investment decisions, and ensuring compliance with governance standards, this role presents a platform for professionals to showcase their technical expertise and business acumen while fostering strong partnerships and making a significant impact on the organisation’s financial performance and growth trajectory.

What you’ll do

You will serve as a strategic finance business partner to the senior Argos Technology leadership team, providing support, challenge, and insight on all aspects of financial decision-making related to technology investment and BAU spend. You will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end financial performance of the relevant area, ensuring full visibility of costs and value outcomes for Sainsbury’s & Argos. Your responsibilities will include developing financial models to support business cases and investment decisions, overseeing management information delivery, contributing to corporate planning and budgeting activities, and ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies while maintaining high standards of governance and financial accuracy throughout each reporting cycle. Your ability to drive improved financial decision-making through high-quality analysis, stakeholder engagement skills, and strong controls mindset will be essential in this role.

Who you are

You are a professionally qualified accountant with a proven track record of providing strategic financial support and insightful analysis to senior leadership teams within the technology sector. Your strong technical foundation, commercial acumen, and experience in large FMCG, Food, Retail, or Technology businesses equip you to drive improved financial decision-making and ensure full compliance with accounting policies. With your exceptional business partnering skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex financial data, you play a key role in fostering strong cross-functional collaboration, delivering high-quality management information, and contributing to the development of robust financial plans to support the growth and success of the organisation.

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with evidence of applying technical accounting knowledge to support commercial decision-making
• Demonstrable commercial finance business partnering experience operating within a large FMCG, retail, food, technology or similarly complex business environment
• Advanced Excel capability, including financial modelling, with evidence of delivering accurate financial analysis, maintaining financial controls, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrable experience of effective stakeholder management, building and maintaining productive relationships across multiple functions
• Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data, generating actionable insights to inform senior stakeholder decision-making
