We are hiring a Finance Manager – Argos Technology Business Partner to join the Finance team at Sainsbury’s Argos. You will partner with the senior technology leadership to influence investment decisions, manage costs, and deliver high-quality management information.

The role oversees financial planning, budgeting, and governance across the Argos Technology function, ensuring accurate reporting and strong controls while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with evidence of applying technical accounting knowledge to support commercial decision-making
• Demonstrable commercial finance business partnering experience operating within a large FMCG, retail, food, technology or similarly complex business environment
• Advanced Excel capability, including financial modelling, with evidence of delivering accurate financial analysis, maintaining financial controls, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Demonstrable experience of effective stakeholder management, building and maintaining productive relationships across multiple functions
• Proven ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data, generating actionable insights to inform senior stakeholder decision-making

Responsibilities

• You will serve as a strategic finance business partner to the senior Argos Technology leadership team, providing support, challenge, and insight on all aspects of financial decision-making related to technology investment and BAU spend
• You will play a crucial role in managing the end-to-end financial performance of the relevant area, ensuring full visibility of costs and value outcomes for Sainsbury’s & Argos
• Your responsibilities will include developing financial models to support business cases and investment decisions, overseeing management information delivery, contributing to corporate planning and budgeting activities
• Ensuring compliance with Group accounting policies while maintaining high standards of governance and financial accuracy throughout each reporting cycle
• Your ability to drive improved financial decision-making through high-quality analysis, stakeholder engagement skills, and strong controls mindset will be essential

Location: London Store Support Centre & Home – colleagues go into the office 1-2 days per week on average.

Please note, this role currently sits within our Sainsbury’s structure but will move across to our Argos structure under Swift Partners at a cutover point anticipated to be in approximately 18-24 months’ time. We are able to offer this role as either permanent or as an 18M FTC.

Your strong technical foundation, commercial acumen, and experience in large FMCG, Food, Retail, or Technology businesses equip you to drive improved financial decision-making and ensure full compliance with accounting policies. With your exceptional business partnering skills, attention to detail, and ability to interpret complex financial data, you play a key role in fostering strong cross-functional collaboration, delivering high-quality management information, and contributing to the development of robust financial plans to support the growth and success of the organisation.
