Job summary

Matchtech seeks an experienced Commercial Director for a leading civil engineering, groundworks and infrastructure contractor. The role leads the commercial function, delivering strong financial performance, governance and commercial excellence across the project lifecycle.

Based from the Hertfordshire office with travel to project locations across the UK, you will oversee tendering, procurement, forecasting and reporting, ensuring profitability and client relationship strength in a senior

Qualifications

• Experience in groundworks, civil engineering and infrastructure contracting.
• Senior commercial leadership experience.
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of major projects.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts.
• Experience with self-delivery or Tier 1 contractors.
• Proven profitability forecasting and financial control.
• Ability to build and develop high-performing commercial teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the entire commercial function.
• Oversee projects from tender stage through to final account and post-completion.
• Manage all procurement and buying activities.
• Drive commercial strategy and business performance.
• Full P&L responsibility.
• Produce and manage cashflow and pipeline forecasts.
• Oversee management accounts and commercial reporting.
• Ensure robust governance and risk management.
• Support business growth and maintain client relationships.
