Job summary

Howden Group in Manchester is seeking a Claims Handler to manage commercial claims from notification to settlement, delivering high-quality client service and coordination with brokers, insurers and loss adjusters.

The role involves assessing coverage, guiding clients through the claims journey, negotiating settlements, and visiting clients after significant losses to gather information for submissions. This is a hybrid role with two to three days in the office.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 months' experience in a commercial claims role.
• GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent) required; A Levels desirable.
• CII and/or CILA qualifications, or working towards, would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of commercial insurance claims from notification through to settlement.
• Provide updates, guidance and reassurance to clients while delivering high standard service.
• Collaborate with brokers, insurers, loss adjusters, and legal representatives to achieve timely resolutions.
• Assess policy coverage and claims information to support informed decisions and favourable outcomes.
• Negotiate with insurers to secure fair settlements in line with terms and client expectations.
• Conduct client visits when required after significant losses to support submissions.
