Overview

Berkeley Insurance Group (part of Brown & Brown Europe) is currently seeking an experienced Commercial Claims Handler to join our professional and welcoming team based in either Leicester or Birmingham.

Our experience enables us to provide independent advice and specialist expertise across various trade sectors, aiming to offer unbiased and informed choices, excellent customer service, and market buying power that delivers the right insurance protection.

In this role, you will handle claims from first notification to settlement, including verifying cover, creating necessary files, and updating relevant parties on large, complex, or difficult claims.

This is a long-term opportunity suitable for an experienced individual with solid cross-class claims handling knowledge seeking career progression or wider responsibilities.

The Day To Day

  • Handle all allocated claims, maintain accurate records, chase clients and insurers for documents, manage claims to satisfactory conclusion, appoint Loss Adjusters/Engineers as needed, negotiate settlements, issue cheques, and keep records updated.
  • Produce claims statistics, reports, and information for Directors, Account Executives, and Handlers.
  • Establish and maintain close links with clients, insurers, loss adjusters, engineers, and other relevant parties.
  • Attend client meetings with Account Executives when required.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Complaints Procedures.
  • Follow Company Procedures Manual and comply with FCA requirements, maintaining necessary procedures.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance, reporting any relevant issues.

Your Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years of commercial insurance claims handling experience
  • Confidence in managing various client insurance claims, providing support and advice
  • Good understanding of commercial claims, products, and policy wordings
  • Knowledge of Acturis insurance broking software is an advantage
