Job summary

We Do Group are partnering with a growing international software business to recruit a Commercial Accountant into its London finance team. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious accountant who wants to move beyond traditional management accounting and build a career in commercial finance and FP&A.

The role is based in London, with a hybrid pattern of three days in the office, and offers exposure to budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis and business partnering.

Qualifications

• Good management accounting and month-end experience.
• Balance sheets, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Part-qualified/finalist ACCA or CIMA status.
• Strong Excel skills and an interest in data and reporting.
• Analytical and commercially curious mindset.
• Interest in automating and simplifying finance processes.
• Confidence to question how things are currently done.
• Strong communication and ability to build relationships outside Finance.
• Ambition to develop toward FP&A and commercial finance.

We Do Group are partnering with a growing international software business to recruit a Commercial Accountant into its London finance team.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious accountant who wants to move beyond traditional management accounting and build a career in commercial finance and FP&A.

You’ll join a business that is investing in its finance function, with a clear focus on improving reporting, making better use of data and giving operational teams much greater visibility over performance.

The role will initially give you strong ownership across management accounts and month-end, but that is only part of the opportunity. A significant amount of your time will be dedicated to analysis, reporting, automation and process improvement, with the role becoming increasingly commercial as those foundations improve.

You’ll get exposure to budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis and business partnering, with the opportunity to understand what is driving performance rather than simply reporting what has already happened.

They want someone bright, ambitious and naturally curious who can grow with the role and ultimately develop into a much broader FP&A/commercial finance position.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Producing management accounts and taking ownership of your own portfolio of entities
• Analysing performance against budget, forecast and prior periods
• Helping the business better understand margins, profitability and key commercial drivers
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and wider FP&A activity
• Working with operational teams to turn financial information into useful commercial insight
• Improving the quality and structure of financial and operational data
• Developing and automating management reporting
• Using Excel, Power Query and AI-assisted tools to improve the speed and quality of analysis
• Reducing manual reporting and identifying smarter ways of working
• Building relationships with non-finance stakeholders across the business
• Taking increasing ownership of commercial analysis and business partnering as the role develops

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We’re looking for potential as much as experience.

You might currently be a Management Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant, Finance Analyst or Commercial Accountant who has built a strong grounding in the numbers but now wants greater commercial exposure.

Ideally, you’ll have:

• Good management accounting and month-end experience
• Strong understanding of balance sheets, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Part-qualified/finalist ACCA or CIMA status, or strong equivalent experience
• Strong Excel skills and an interest in data and reporting
• A naturally analytical and commercially curious mindset
• An interest in improving, automating and simplifying finance processes
• The confidence to question how things are currently done
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships outside Finance
• A genuine ambition to develop towards FP&A and commercial finance

Experience within a software, technology, multi-entity or high-volume business would be useful, but it isn’t essential.

What matters most is finding someone sharp, motivated and capable of developing quickly.
