Job summary

Beta in Belfast is seeking an experienced Commercial Accountant to join our Finance team. This role blends traditional financial accounting with commercial analysis to support decision making.

You will work in a friendly utility company, take ownership of cost and capital expenditure analysis, produce management reports, and collaborate with budget holders and non-finance colleagues. Office-based role with a focus on delivering accurate financial insights while supporting corporate objectives

Qualifications

• Part qualified accountant, with exams passed towards ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent.
• Industry finance experience, including cost and variance analysis; balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts.
• Experience working with non-finance colleagues; supporting budget holders and presenting.

Responsibilities

• Commercial and cost analysis: prepare accurate, timely and detailed analysis of construction costs; analyse capex and opex against budget and KPIs; present performance to managers and non-finance stakeholders.
• Financial accounts and control: support management accounts, year-end reporting and audit requirements; assist with budgets and rolling forecasts; maintain internal controls.

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Accountant to join our Finance team in Belfast.

This role would be perfect for a part-qualified accountant with industry experience who wants to balance a traditional financial accountant role with a genuine opportunity to engage in the commercial side of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Commercial and cost analysis

• Prepare accurate, timely and detailed analysis of construction costs
• Analyse capital and maintenance expenditure against budget and KPIs identifying trends and cost drivers and explaining key variances
• Produce clear management reports and present financial and commercial performance with confidence to managers, and non-finance stakeholders.

Financial accounts and control

• Support management accounts, year-end reporting and external and internal audit requirements, including the accurate reporting of contractor and engineering costs.
• Assist with the annual budget and rolling forecasts, working with budget holder to ensure assumptions are robust.
• Operate internal financial controls and recommend practical improvements.

Essential Qualifications

• Part qualified accountant, with exams passed towards ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent.
