Job summary

Remedy Recruitment Group is seeking a College Teaching Assistant to support young adults with SEND in a Lambeth SEN college. The role is 35 hours per week, term-time only, from 8:30am to 4:00pm, with pay of £110–£130 per day depending on experience.

You will assist KS3 pupils 1:1 or in groups, help monitor progress, and support inclusion and independent learning. DBS check and references are required; GCSEs in Maths and English at A-C/9-4 are expected.

Qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSE grade A-C / 9-4 or equivalent.
  • Experience of working with young people, particularly those with SEND needs.
  • Confident to converse with parents, students and members of the public.
  • Good ICT skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom support for KS3 pupils 1:1 or in groups.
  • Support independent learning and inclusion of all students.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress in collaboration with teaching staff.
  • Monitor and manage stock and supplies for the classroom.
  • Supervise students between lessons and when entering and leaving the school.

Job description

Are you flexible, patient, caring and confident with children and young people? This is a small SEN college that caters for young adults with PMLD, Complex needs, ASD and Speech and Language difficulties.

  • £110 - £130 per day, depending on experience
  • 35 hours per week, Term Time only
  • 8.30am to 4pm Monday to Friday
  • Up to £130 per day for candidates with extensive experience or qualifications such as Teaching Assistant at NVQ Level 2 or above

Not only will you gain invaluable first‑hand experience in a secondary school environment, you will also have the opportunity to network with Speech and Language specialists and ELSA practitioners based at the school. This is also a great opportunity if you have considered a future in teaching or education.

About the role
  • Working in a mainstream secondary school that has a high number of pupils with SEND needs
  • Deliver classroom support for Key Stage 3 pupils either 1:1 or groups of students
  • Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all students as required
  • Support the teaching in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress
  • Monitor and manage stock and supplies for the classroom
  • Supervise students between lessons and when entering and leaving the school
The right candidate
