Job summary

Axcis Education Recruitment is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to join a mainstream college in Bromley, supporting students across vocational courses in Childcare, Catering and Hair/Beauty. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to learners with additional needs, helping them access practical lessons and develop independence.

The ideal candidate will have a patient, proactive approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work with lecturers and support staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people with SEND is desirable but not essential.
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Confident supporting students in practical learning environments.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• A genuine passion for helping young people achieve their potential.
• Willingness to learn and develop within a SEND college setting.
• You must be suitably qualified for the position advertised and be prepared to attend a face to face interview.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with additional needs.
• Support learners with ASD, SEMH, epilepsy, and other SEND requirements.
• Assist students during practical vocational sessions.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social development.
• Support positive behaviour strategies and emotional regulation.
• Assist with medical or personal care needs where required.
• Work closely with lecturers and support teams to meet individual student needs.
• Help students develop skills for employment and future independence.
