Job summary

Fintellect Recruitment Limited is recruiting on behalf of a reputable UK financial services group for a Collections Specialist responsible for managing SME and consumer arrears, delivering a fair, compliant and customer-focused collections experience.

You will assess customer circumstances, agree sustainable repayment plans, negotiate settlements where appropriate, and handle finance agreements with attention to risk indicators.

Qualifications

• Two years minimum in collections or credit control.
• Ability to work well in a team and maintain strong work ethic.
• Demonstrable professional integrity.

Responsibilities

• Manage inbound and outbound collections activity across early, mid, and late-stage arrears.
• Assess customer circumstances, agree sustainable repayment plans, and negotiate settlements where appropriate.
• Handle finance agreements including monitoring security, identifying risk indicators, and escalating potential recoveries.
• Conduct affordability checks, verify information, and identify potential fraud or misuse of funds.
• Work closely with Recoveries, Legal, and Asset Management teams to progress cases efficiently.
• Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and compliance.

Our client is an established, reputable Financial Services Group who provide specialist business banking solutions to the UK SME market. As a Collections Specialist, you'll manage a portfolio of SME and consumer accounts, ensuring timely recovery of arrears while delivering a fair, compliant, and customer-focused collections experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage inbound and outbound collections activity across early-stage, mid-stage, and late-stage arrears.
• Assess customer circumstances, agree sustainable repayment plans, and negotiate settlements where appropriate.
• Handle finance agreements including monitoring security, identifying risk indicators, and escalating potential recoveries.
• Conduct affordability checks, verify information, and identify potential fraud or misuse of funds.
• Work closely with Recoveries, Legal, and Asset Management teams to progress cases efficiently.
• Maintain accurate case notes, documentation, and compliance.

Skills and experience required:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Collections or Credit Control department
• Team player who is also proactive, self-motivated and has a strong work ethic.
• Demonstrable professional integrity.
• A good working knowledge of CRM and data systems, Word, Excel and Outlook.
