Job summary

iwoca is seeking a Collections & Recoveries Specialist to own a portfolio of high‑value overdue accounts. This hybrid role is based in Leeds or London, with the first month in the office daily for training and then in‑office presence 1–2 days per week.

You will manage accounts up to £1m, handle calls, letters and emails, and determine the best recovery strategy—settlement, repayment arrangements, or litigation—while coordinating with internal paralegals and external insolvency practitioners.

• End‑to‑end debt recovery experience in the UK.
• Experience with insolvency procedures and courts is preferred.
• Strong negotiation and decision-making abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Collections & Recoveries Specialist

We’re looking for an experienced Collections & Recoveries Specialist to own our most complex and high‑value overdue accounts — taking each one from start to resolution, whether that involves negotiated settlement, litigation or insolvency. This is a specialist recoveries role covering contentious and non‑contentious collections.

Where you’ll work

This hybrid role is based in Leeds or London. You’ll spend the first month in the office daily for training, then expected to work from office once or twice a week thereafter.

The role

As a specialist, you will manage a portfolio of accounts with outstanding balances up to £1m through to completion, handling inbound and initiating outbound telephone calls, letters and emails with care, accuracy and professionalism.

What you’ll own

• A portfolio of complex, high‑value accounts through to resolution — including County Court Judgments (CCJs), charging orders and enforcement action
• Review the full financial and asset picture of an account to decide the best route to recovery
• Recommend and evidence the right strategy for each account — negotiated settlement, repayment arrangement, or litigation
• Negotiate and monitor repayment arrangements on difficult accounts, with clear consequences for non‑payment
• Instruct and liaise with internal paralegals and external insolvency practitioners

Requirements

Essential:

• End‑to‑end, hands‑on experience of debt recovery through the UK courts and/or insolvency procedures
• At least 2 years debt recovery and / or insolvency experience, ideally in the commercial/business sector
• Sound commercial judgement and the confidence to make decisions on complex, high‑value accounts
• A patient, empathetic and professional manner, especially in difficult conversations
• Strong communication skills, accuracy and confidence

Desirable / Nice to have:

• Experience managing a large portfolio of high‑value business cases
• Experience in the finance or lending industry
• Experience with bankruptcy and high level litigation cases
• Business acumen and genuine enthusiasm for helping SMEs

Salary

Leeds: £34,000 – £41,000

London: £39,000 – £46,000
