Job summary

OpenAI in London seeks an Applied AI Engineer focused on Codex to design, build, and deploy AI-powered software development workflows that transform how teams plan, write, test, review, and deliver software.

You will work hands-on across prototypes, evaluation systems, reference implementations, and production accelerators, partnering with OpenAI Product, Research, Engineering, Security, Sales, and the Codex organization to deliver reliable, scalable deployments that enhance engineering

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineering experience applying AI tooling to real-world workflows.
• Proven ability to design and implement AI-powered development pipelines and tooling.
• Familiarity with evaluating AI coding systems and integrating them into production workloads.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering leaders to identify high-value Codex opportunities and translate them into architectures, plans, and success criteria.
• Design, build, and deploy AI-powered software development workflows to improve planning, coding, testing, reviewing, and delivery.
• Work hands-on to prototype integrations, evaluation harnesses, reference implementations, and production accelerators using Codex.
• Help customers move experiments to reliable production workflows with sustained developer adoption and measurable impact.
• Lead technical deep dives, workshops, and hands-on enablement for engineering teams adopting advanced AI coding workflows.
• Gather insights from deployments to inform product requirements and model feedback for OpenAI teams.
