Job summary

OpenAI in London is seeking an Applied AI Engineer focused on Codex to design and deploy AI-powered software development workflows. You will work with engineering teams to translate real-world needs into architectures, prototypes, and production-ready solutions.

Partner with product, research, and security teams, lead technical explorations, and help customers adopt Codex, aiming for measurable productivity gains and safe, scalable deployments. Hybrid work with relocation support.

Qualifications

Proven track record designing and delivering software or AI systems in enterprise environments.
Strong Python and software development experience.
Experience with AI coding tools and evaluation.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and deploy AI-powered software development workflows that improve how engineering teams plan, write, test, review, debug, and deliver software.
Collaborate with product, research, security, and engineering teams to translate customer needs into architectures and production-ready solutions.
Lead technical explorations, prototypes, and reference implementations that accelerate Codex deployments.
Evaluate AI coding systems using representative tasks, automated graders, and production signals to improve reliability and safety.
