Job summary

National Energy System Operator Limited (NESO) is seeking a Code Governance Lead to direct governance and code administration across GB energy markets. You will chair key workgroups, manage code changes and engage regulators, panels and participants to deliver industry-wide reforms.

The role can be based at Wokingham or Warwick with hybrid working from office and home, and NESO welcomes both full-time and part-time applicants with flexible arrangements.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of industry code governance processes and their role in the energy sector.
• Experience developing and delivering effective stakeholder engagement strategies.
• Understanding GB electricity and gas markets and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience chairing meetings or industry forums with impartiality.
• Credibility to represent NESO in external forums.
• Excellent relationship-building and influencing skills.
• Collaborative approach across diverse teams.
• Effective project management across multiple workstreams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead on industry code governance processes for NESO.
• Project manage industry code changes through governance.
• Oversee day-to-day team code governance activities.
• Develop stakeholder engagement strategies and ensure clarity.
• Chair internal and external working groups (Code Panels/Workgroups).
• Provide advice on industry codes and governance.
• Identify and implement process improvements.
• Contribute to Ofgem governance relations.
• Contribute to CACoP and Code Administration input.
• Draft code modification proposals per CACoP.
• Drive initiatives to increase customer satisfaction in code governance.
• Drive process improvements for efficiencies.
