Redstone Commodity Search is assisting a growing metals trading firm to recruit a Cobalt Trader for its London office. The role offers a pivotal opportunity to expand the firm’s battery metals presence and to assume P&L responsibility.

You will develop trading strategies for cobalt, originate relationships with producers and refiners, negotiate contracts, and monitor market dynamics to capitalise on opportunities in the cobalt supply chain.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in physical metals trading.
• Strong knowledge of cobalt supply chains and pricing.

Redstone Commodity Search is working with a growing metals trading firm seeking to hire a Cobalt Trader to join their London office. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in expanding the firm’s presence in battery metals markets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute trading strategies for cobalt, including physical trading and structured transactions, with P&L responsibility.
• Originate and maintain relationships with producers, refiners, OEMs, and industrial consumers across global markets.
• Identify and capitalize on market opportunities within the battery metals space, particularly cobalt supply chains.
• Negotiate contracts and manage end-to-end trade execution, including logistics, pricing, and delivery terms.
• Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics, and geopolitical factors impacting cobalt markets.
• Collaborate with internal teams across logistics, finance, and risk to ensure efficient and compliant trade execution.

Key Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in physical metals trading, ideally with exposure to cobalt or battery metals.
• Strong understanding of global cobalt supply chains, pricing mechanisms, and market participants.
• Established commercial network within metals markets, including producers and consumers.
• Experience managing P&L and executing profitable trading strategies.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
