Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced HCPC registered Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join the Specialist Coagulation Laboratory. Based primarily at The Royal Liverpool site, the post supports coagulation across sites and requires flexible hours, including out-of-hours and on-call.

The role demands strong analytical and technical skills, up-to-date haemostasis knowledge, and the ability to supervise trainees.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with Band 6 level.
• Experience in Specialist Coagulation and Haemostasis/Thrombosis desirable.
• Up-to-date knowledge of haematology practices and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Assess samples, validate routine and specialist haematology analyses.
• Interpret results, authorize tests and advise on further testing as needed.
• Ensure data integrity in laboratory information systems and QC logs.
• Supervise staff, train trainees and support service development.
• Support off-site coagulation services and participate in on-call rota.
