Job summary

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the operational, financial, HR management of the Coagulation STH Laboratory, contributing to the strategic development of the SYB Pathology (SYBP) service and the development of network objectives and leading the Coagulation STH teams, and through them the duties of all Biomedical Scientist, Associate Practitioners, Biomedical Science Assistant-Higher level and with the Operational Manager the administrative and clerical staff within the laboratory.

Responsible to the SYB Head of Pathology for the effective day-to-day management of the laboratory, managing all activities of the analytical service to deliver an efficient, timely, clinically governable, accountable, quality service that is continually striving to achieve best practice.

Working with the Discipline Leads and other Laboratory Managers to implement a scheme of delegation ensuring all staff understand their roles and responsibilities, maintain the appropriate professional codes of conduct, and are actively encouraged to engage in CPD.

Work with senior leadership colleagues to provide the highest quality services, designed to meet the needs of all patients and clinicians across SYB and, as appropriate, lead on network and Trust strategic projects.

Responsible for all staff within the laboratory ensuring a supportive atmosphere exhibiting network and Trust values and appreciating the well-being of all who work there.
