Job summary

S & D Trade Recruitment Ltd is recruiting for a CNC Turner / Setter Operator based in Standish, near Wigan. The role involves setting and operating single spindle CNC turning machines, including bar fed and chucking machines, and producing components from engineering drawings with tight tolerances.

The position offers 38 hours per week with overtime at enhanced rates. Benefits include pension, training opportunities, and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating single spindle CNC turning machines.
• Practical ability to work with bar fed and chucking machines.
• Strong interpretation of engineering drawings, tolerances, and measurements.
• Competent with micrometers, verniers, bore gauges for inspection.
• Knowledge of Fanuc controls is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate single spindle CNC turning machines, including bar fed and chucking machines.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspection using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and other precision tools.
• Manufacture precision components from engineering drawings to specified dimensions and tolerances.
• Select and set tooling, fixtures and work holding to suit machining needs.
• Load and prove out CNC programmes before production.
• Monitor component accuracy and adjust tooling or offsets as required.
• Complete production and quality documentation per ISO 9001.
