First Base Employment is seeking a CNC Turner Setter Operator in Bristol. The role covers day and shift patterns across two sites with premiums for extended hours.

Candidates with basic CNC experience are welcome; higher rates apply for those who can programme, set, and operate CNC turning machines independently. Salary ranges from £26,102 to £48,272 per year depending on experience, inclusive of shift premiums.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Turning machines using Fanuc controls.

• Perform first-off and in-process inspection with precision gauges.
• Maintain quality and meet production targets while ensuring safety.

CNC Turner Setter Operator

Location: Bristol

Hours:
We have a range of shift patterns available depending on the successful candidate and site.

Site 1

• Day Shift:
  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
  • Friday: 7:30am – 12:30pm
• Late Shift:
  • Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 12:00am
  • 30% shift premium

Site 2

• Double Days (Rotating):
  • Earlies:
    • Monday to Thursday: 6:00am – 2:00pm
    • Friday: 6:00am – 11:00am
  • Lates:
    • Monday to Thursday: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
    • Friday: 11:00am – 4:00pm
  • 25% shift premium

Although you'll primarily be based at one site, there may occasionally be the opportunity to support another site with reasonable notice.

Salary:

£26,102 – £48,272 per annum DOE (including applicable shift premiums),

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC Turning machines using Fanuc controls.
• Manufacture high-quality precision components to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Set tooling, manufacture soft jaws and establish machine datums.
• Carry out first-off and in-process inspection using micrometers, verniers, bore gauges and plug gauges.
• Produce components to tight tolerances whilst maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor machining performance and make tooling or offset adjustments where required.
• Troubleshoot machining, tooling and programme issues.
• Complete production documentation accurately.
• Work to production targets whilst maintaining excellent quality standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and 5S activities.
• Maintain a safe and tidy working environment.

Key Skills & Experience

• Previous CNC Turning experience.
• Experience using Fanuc controls.
• Ability to set and operate CNC Turning machines.
• Programming experience is highly desirable but not essential.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Confident using measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers and bore gauges.
• Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
