Actio Recruitment is seeking an experienced CNC Turner – Fixed Head Setter / Programmer to join a precision engineering business in Watford. You will set, program and operate Doosan CNC lathes to manufacture high‑precision aerospace components, working on small to medium batches.

The role offers £35,000–£40,000 per year, overtime, an annual bonus, pension, free on-site parking and a Monday–Thursday 08:00–17:00, Friday 08:00–13:00 schedule.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as CNC Turner / Setter / Programmer.
• Experience setting and programming CNC lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
• Experience machining stainless steel and titanium is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set and program Doosan CNC fixed head lathes for precision component manufacture.
• Produce small to medium batch components to exacting standards.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.

The Role

As a CNC Turner – Fixed Head Setter / Programmer, you will be responsible for setting, programming and operating Doosan CNC lathes to manufacture high-precision components.

You will work to tight tolerances across a range of materials, including stainless steel, aluminium, brass, glass-filled nylon, acetal and titanium.

The role will involve both prototype and repeat batch production, with a strong emphasis on quality, accuracy and efficiency.

• Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks
• Work with a range of metals, plastics and specialist materials
• Troubleshoot machining issues and optimise programmes and processes
• Work closely with the wider production team to meet manufacturing schedules
• Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and health & safety

About You

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner / CNC Turning Setter Programmer
• Experience setting and programming CNC lathes
• Experience with Doosan CNC machines would be highly beneficial
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• Experience machining a variety of materials, including stainless steel and titanium
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• An engineering apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification is desirable, although relevant industry experience will be considered
