Bennett & Game Recruitment Ltd. is seeking an experienced CNC Turner to join a leading engineering and optics manufacturer in Ilminster on a permanent night shift.

Role involves setting and operating SPDT Diamond Turning machinery, interpreting drawings, and achieving sub-micron tolerances with high-quality finishes. Training is available for strong CNC turning candidates with limited SPDT experience.

Formación

• Experience operating CNC turning machinery.
• SPDT experience is advantageous but not essential.
• G-code controls experience is desirable.
• Strong understanding of tolerances and surface finishes.
• Ability to work independently in a clean, controlled manufacturing environment.

Responsabilidades

• Setting and operating CNC Single Point Diamond Turning machinery.
• Manufacturing ultra-precision components to tight tolerances.
• Interpreting engineering drawings, CAD data and surface finish specifications.
• Selecting and handling specialist diamond tooling.
• Achieving sub-micron tolerances and high-quality surface finishes.
• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections.
• Using precision metrology equipment to verify component quality.
• Adjusting machine parameters to optimise quality, accuracy and cycle times.
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and fault diagnosis.
• Maintaining accurate production and inspection records.
• Working closely with Engineering, Metrology and Quality teams.

Salary: Competitive, depending on experience + 20% shift premium

Hours: Monday-Thursday 10:00pm-6:00am, Friday 10:00pm-5:00am

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Bennett & Game are currently working with a leading specialist engineering and optics manufacturer who are seeking an experienced CNC Turner / CNC Setter Operator to join their Ilminster facility on a permanent night shift.

This is an excellent opportunity for a CNC Turner with experience in precision engineering, with training available for candidates who have a strong CNC turning background but limited experience with Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT).

CNC Turner - Role & Responsibilities

• Setting and operating CNC Single Point Diamond Turning machinery
• Manufacturing ultra-precision components to extremely tight tolerances
• Interpreting engineering drawings, CAD data and surface finish specifications
• Selecting and handling specialist diamond tooling
• Achieving sub-micron tolerances and high-quality surface finishes
• Carrying out first-off, in-process and final inspections
• Using precision metrology equipment to verify component quality
• Adjusting machine parameters to optimise quality, accuracy and cycle times
• Carrying out routine machine maintenance and fault diagnosis
• Maintaining accurate production and inspection records
• Working closely with Engineering, Metrology and Quality teams

CNC Turner - Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience operating CNC turning machinery
• Experience with Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT) is advantageous but not essential
• CNC programming experience, including G-code or machine-specific controls, is desirable
• Strong understanding of engineering tolerances and surface finishes
• Experience working with precision materials such as aluminium, copper or nickel-based materials would be beneficial
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Comfortable working independently within a clean and controlled manufacturing environment
