Job summary

Yolk Recruitment is supporting an established precision engineering manufacturer in South Wales to recruit a CNC Production Team Leader for days. The role offers a clear route toward Production Manager as the current manager transitions to a development role.

You will lead a skilled team on the CNC shop floor, ensuring delivery, quality and safety while continually improving throughput and OTIF. Competitive salary and benefits are on offer.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of CNC machining and precision manufacturing.
• Experience leading or supervising people within manufacturing.
• Good understanding of CNC machining processes and machine shop operations.
• Experience managing changing production priorities, WIP and delivery requirements.
• Structured approach to problem solving in production environments.
• Confidence communicating with machinists, engineers, managers and other departments.
• Strong understanding of quality and health and safety requirements.
• Ability to remain calm and make sensible decisions when priorities compete.
• An HNC, HND or degree in Engineering or Manufacturing is useful, though equivalent experience is relevant.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day execution of the production plan across the shopfloor.
• Prioritise and sequence work to meet customer and business requirements.
• Manage WIP and remove production bottlenecks.
• Coordinate people and machine capacity to maintain output and delivery.
• Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day production issues.
• Monitor production performance and take action when output deviates from plan.
• Lead, coach and support the production team.
• Communicate daily priorities, expectations and requirements clearly.
• Monitor KPIs including OTIF, throughput, utilisation and efficiency.
• Work closely with Planning, Engineering, Materials and Quality.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain strong standards around quality, health and safety.
• Take increasing responsibility for production control and team performance as you develop towards Production Management.
