Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd. in Rainham, Essex, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead and support day-to-day CNC production, troubleshoot manufacturing issues and ensure output, quality and efficiency targets are achieved.

The successful candidate will mentor operators, step onto machines when required and collaborate with engineering and quality teams to drive improvements. This hands-on role emphasises KPI achievement and staff development.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC machinist/setter/programmer or supervisor.
• Strong milling/turning knowledge in precision manufacturing.
• Experience leading a manufacturing team.

Responsibilities

• Support daily production activities across the manufacturing area.
• Lead, mentor and develop production operators and machinists.
• Set production priorities and ensure schedules are achieved.
• Monitor performance, productivity and quality metrics.
• Carry out root cause investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Provide hands-on machining support when required.
• Support machine set-ups, process optimisation and production troubleshooting.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety and manufacturing procedures.
• Assist with training and development of production staff.
• Work closely with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
• Support capacity planning and resource allocation.
• Help introduce best practice manufacturing techniques.
• Participate in production review meetings.
