You will set up grinders, run production, verify measurements, and maintain quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has NVQ levels, grinding experience, and familiarity with Fanuc or Siemens 840D controls.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations is required.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering is required.
• Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and Technology or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 12 months in a machine shop using grinding machines.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC grinder to produce parts.
• Maintain quality and safety standards.
• Plan machining by studying work orders.
• Install and adjust fixed and rolling centres, tools, attachments, wheels.
• Verify settings by measuring positions and first run parts.

Job description

As a leading Technical Recruitment Consultancy, Zebrec is delighted to offer the role of "Cnc Setter Operator Programmer (Grinder)" for our client, a reputable and leading provider of professional services in the Specialist Engineering industry.

Role & Responsibilities of the "Cnc Setter Operator Programmer (Grinder)"

• CNC Setter/Operator (Grinder) to produce machine parts by setting & operating a CNC machine
• Maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Plans machining by studying work orders.
• Sets up and runs grinders by installing and adjusting fixed and rolling centres, tools, attachments, steadies and grinding wheels.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first run part and sample work pieces, adhering to our client’s standards.
• Maintains specifications by observing grinding operation, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, adjusting programs where necessary, replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on a daily basis, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, and calling for repairs through the intranet systems.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Conceptual skills, process improvements, verbal communication, functional and technical skills, controls and instrumentation, supply management, tooling, coordination, inventory control, attention to detail, judgement, team player.

Additional Requirements

• Control system requirements: Fanuc, Siemens 840D.
• Grinding wheel fitment certification.
• Turning experience would be of benefit.

Education & Experience

• Level 2 (NVQ) Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations
• Level 2/3 (NVQ) Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
• Level 3 Diploma in Engineering and Technology or equivalent
• Minimum 12 months in a machine shop environment using and operating grinding machines.
