Job summary

GTS Group Ltd. is recruiting a CNC Setter Operator for its aerospace and defence manufacturing cell in South Oxfordshire. You will set, run, inspect and finish your own work in a small-batch, high-mix environment with tight tolerances.

You'll work on 4- and 5-axis CNC mills and multi-turret lathes, plan and load jobs for both day and unmanned 24/7 operation, and perform detail finishing, deburring and quality checks including MPI and pressure testing.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC setting experience on milling and turning (setting, not just operating).
• Confidence reading and understanding CNC code at the machine interface.
• Ability to interpret detail, assembly and finishing drawings.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools and how materials machine.
• Experience with inspection methods such as MPI and pressure testing.

Responsibilities

• Fully setting and operating new 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines and multi-turret CNC lathes.
• Planning and loading work for both manned day production and unmanned running in a 24/7 cellular environment.
• Hand deburring and fettling detail components.

The role

You'll join a specialist small-batch machining cell producing safety-critical components. Low volume, high mix and tight tolerances. You won't be feeding a production line; you'll set, run, inspect and finish your own work, and own the quality of what leaves your cell.

Day to day, you'll be:

• Fully setting and operating new 4- and 5-axis CNC milling machines and multi-turret CNC lathes
• Planning and loading work for both manned day production and unmanned running in a 24/7 cellular environment
• Hand deburring and fettling detail components
• Inspecting components, including pressure checking, magnetic particle inspection and paint finish checks

What you'll bring

• Proven CNC setting experience on milling and turning (setting, not just operating)

• The ability to fully interpret detail, assembly and finishing process drawings
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools and how different materials machine
