Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator in Daventry, United Kingdom. The role involves safely setting and operating CNC machinery, performing detailed quality checks and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. This is a PM shift position.

The ideal candidate will have an engineering-based qualification in machining and at least two years of hands-on CNC experience, with familiarity of Mori Seiki equipment and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification in machining or related discipline.
• Minimum two years' hands-on CNC or precision machining experience.
• Ability to set and operate CNC centres and lathes independently.
• Experience with Mori Seiki machinery is a plus.
• Able to meet tight deadlines with accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Safely set up and operate CNC machinery in line with quality standards.
• Load and unload materials and machined components.
• Perform detailed quality inspections using Hexagon equipment, verniers, micrometers and gauges.
• Maintain tooling: insert selection, height checks, offsets, speeds and feeds.
• Support continuous improvement and health & safety compliance.
• Set machines to first-off, adjust programs as needed with CAPs.

Job description

The Role

My client is seeking an experienced CNC Setter / Operator to safely set and operate CNC machinery in line with internal quality and safety standards. The role involves machining metal components, carrying out detailed quality checks and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a PM shift position.

Key Responsibilities

• Safe operation of CNC machinery
• Loading and unloading raw materials and machined components
• Completing detailed quality inspections against dimensional drawings using Hexagon measuring equipment, verniers, micrometers and gauges
• Tooling maintenance and servicing, including correct insert selection, checking tool heights, setting offsets, and applying appropriate speeds and feed rates
• Supporting continuous improvement activities
• Adhering to Health & Safety requirements, including PPE, SOP compliance, assisting with risk assessments and highlighting potential hazards
• Ensuring compliance with all Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental standards
• Carrying out additional operational duties as required
• Machine setting including:
  • Selection and pre-machining of workholding jaws and vices
  • Loading correct tooling
  • Selecting appropriate programs from the machine memory
  • Setting machines to first-off stage and making program amendments using CAP’s where required

The Candidate

• An engineering-based qualification in machining, manufacturing or a related discipline would be advantageous
• At least two years of hands‑on experience working within a CNC or precision machining environment
• Confident setting and operating CNC machining centres and lathes independently
• Familiarity with Mori Seiki machinery would be beneficial
• Comfortable working to tight timescales while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Dependable, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team

Salary

£30,000- £45,000 depending on skills and experience
