Job summary

Sigma Recruitment Ltd. seeks a CNC Programmer / Setter for an employee-owned business in the UK. You will program, set and run 5-axis milling on aluminium parts, holding tolerances to 0.05 mm, for high-precision components.

The role offers a four-and-a-bit-day week, no overtime, and a salary of £42,000–£45,000 with an EOT bonus. Full-time, on-site, 39 hours across Mon-Thu plus Friday morning, with start times flexible.

Qualifications

• Proven experience writing CNC programs from drawings and DXF/STP files.
• Hands-on 5-axis milling (3+2) experience and ability to set/operate machines.
• Independent work with conversational programming systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Produce CNC programs from drawings and DXF/STP files using CAD/CAM software.
• Upload programs, then set and operate 5-axis milling machines to finish parts.
• Machining aluminium components with tight tolerances (0.05 mm+).
• Refine existing programs and write new ones as new work arrives.
• Maintain quality and productivity goals on a small team.

Your salary, benefits & hours of work

• £42,000-£45,000 depending on experience
• EOT profit bonus when awarded, on top of your salary, as part of an employee-owned business
• You'll get 24 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays from Day One
• You'll work 39 hours Monday to Thursday plus a Friday morning, with room to flex when you start - some start at 6:30am, others at 8am.

What you'll do as the CNC Programmer / Setter

You'll join a small team of three, taking ownership of the programming and machining that keeps precision parts flowing out the door.

• Produce CNC programs from drawings and STP/DXF files using CAD/CAM software
• Upload programs to the machines, then set and operate them to produce the finished part
• Run 5-axis milling work (3+2) on aluminium components for the electronics sector
• Adjust and refine existing programs, and write new ones as fresh work comes in
• Hold tight tolerances of 0.05mm and tighter on parts up to around 400mm square

What you'll need to apply for the CNC Programmer / Setter

• Proven experience writing CNC machining programs from drawings and STP/DXF files using CAD/CAM software
• Hands-on 5-axis milling (3+2) experience, setting and operating the machines to produce finished parts
• Comfortable with a conversational programming system (Edgecam and HAAS a strong advantage) and able to work independently
