Job summary

Ross Frank is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist/Programmer to join its specialist engineering team. You’ll program, set and operate HAAS machines, producing one-offs and small-batch precision components directly from engineering drawings.

You'll take jobs from drawing through programming, setting, machining and inspection, selecting tooling, speeds and feeds, and performing first-off and in-process checks. This role rewards ownership and varied engineering challenges.

CNC Machinist / Programmer

Up to £50k DOE | Days | Early Friday Finish | Flexible hours | Long summer shutdown

Are you a CNC machinist who enjoys actually programming, setting and machining your own work, rather than simply running existing production jobs?

We're recruiting for a well-established specialist engineering business looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join its small, highly skilled machining team.

This isn't repetitive high-volume production.

You’ll be producing a varied mix of one-offs and small-batch precision components, taking jobs from engineering drawing through programming, setting, machining and inspection.

The company combines traditional engineering and toolmaking knowledge with modern CNC machining, CAD/CAM and in-house inspection, manufacturing specialist components for high-value vintage and performance automotive applications.

What you’ll be doing

• Programming, setting and operating CNC machines
• Working predominantly on HAAS CNC machinery
• Producing one-off and small-batch precision components
• Programming new jobs and editing/proving existing programs
• Working independently from engineering drawings
• Selecting tooling, speeds, feeds and machining methods
• Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection
• Working on varied components rather than repetitive production runs
• Getting involved with interesting engineering and development work

What we’re looking for

You don't need to tick every box.

The important thing is that you're a proper CNC Miller or Turner who can confidently set machines and program jobs, rather than somebody limited to operating or making basic offsets.

Ideally you'll have:

• CNC programming and setting experience
• HAAS experience would be highly desirable
• Experience programming at the machine
• Ability to work independently from drawings
• Good knowledge of tooling, speeds and feeds
• Experience with one-offs / small batches / precision work

Experience with CAMWorks, SolidWorks or offline programming would be useful, but isn't essential.

Likewise, if you're an experienced Fanuc programmer/setter rather than HAAS but have the fundamentals to transfer across, we'd still be interested in speaking with you.
