Job summary

Jackie Kerr Recruitment is seeking a CNC Operator in Stroud to operate CNC milling machines and support a fast-paced production cell. You will perform daily machine health checks, document activities, and ensure work is stamped off accurately.

The role requires reading engineering drawings, basic CNC programming skills, and mentoring new staff. The position includes a night shift pattern (Mon-Thu 22:00-05:00, Fri 17:00-22:00) with a shift allowance.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC Milling Machines.
• Familiarity with Fanuc controls is essential.
• Basic CNC programming and machine competence.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Numerical literacy including fractions and decimals.
• Ability to interpret bar graphs and basic data.

Responsibilities

• Operate one or more CNC machines in the Cell.
• Complete a machine health check list daily.
• Document and track activity in the Cell.
• Stamp off your own work and report NCRs.
• Communicate with the Production Team Leader and assist with duties.
• Maintain a safe and tidy work environment; participate in training.
• Minimise scrap and mentor new staff or apprentices.
• Coordinate delivery dates with Team Leaders; raise workshop issues with CNC Setter/Charge Hand.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Operate one or more CNC machines in the Cell
• Complete a 'machine health check list' daily
• Responsible for documenting and tracking in the Cell
• Stamp off your own work
• Report NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports)
• Converse with the Production Team Leader and assist with other duties when needed
• Maintain a safe and tidy work environment
• Partake in training when required
• Minimise the level of scrap components
• Mentor and support new staff or apprentices
• Establish key delivery dates/requirements with the Production Team Leader and Production Manager
• Liaise with the Production Team Leader and communicate workshop issues to the CNC Setter / Charge Hand's

Ideal Candidate

• Experience operating CNC Milling Machines
• Previously used Fanuc controls
• Engineering qualification preferably craft apprenticeship or equivalent
• Basic CNC programming and machine competence
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to be able to read and understand engineering drawings
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphsAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardised situations

Working Hours

• Monday - Thursday: 10pm to 5am
• Friday: 5pm to 10pm
