Job summary

Castle Employment Group is recruiting an experienced CNC Operator for a permanent nights role near Kirkbymoorside. The initial six-month period is days (Mon-Thu) at £17.92 per hour, before moving to permanent night shifts at £18.65 per hour plus £50 night shift allowance.

Expected earnings on nights are around £49,000 annually. You must have hands-on CNC machining experience and be capable of reading engineering drawings and editing CNC programmes.

Qualifications

• You must already have previous CNC machining experience.
• Ideally you will have knowledge of 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining; Renishaw probing is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Experience making basic CNC programme and tool table edits.

Responsibilities

• Setting and operating high-speed CNC machinery.
• Working across milling, drilling, tapping and other machining processes.
• Reading and interpreting engineering and mechanical drawings.
• Completing basic edits to CNC programmes and tool tables.
• Preparing and loading raw materials and components.
• Checking, controlling and replacing tooling and cutters.
• Ensuring tooling, fixtures and CNC programmes are available prior to production.
• Carrying out quality checks and maintaining accurate production records.
• Taking ownership of component quality and minimising scrap.
• Supporting the efficient operation of the wider machine shop.

CNC Operator - Permanent Nights

Location: Near Kirkbymoorside. Salary: £17.92ph initially, rising to £18.65ph + £50 per night shift. Earning Potential: Circa £49,000 once established on nights. Hours: Monday to Thursday only.

We are recruiting an experienced CNC Operator to join an established manufacturing business, initially working days before moving onto a permanent Monday to Thursday night shift.

This is not a trainee CNC position, so you will need previous hands-on CNC machining experience. The initial six-month period on days will allow you to become familiar with the company's machines, processes and products while completing your probation, before moving permanently onto nights.

Hours & Pay

Initial 6-month period - Days

• Monday to Thursday, 7:00am - 5:30pm
• 40 paid hours per week
• £17.92 per hour
• Familiarisation with company machinery, products and processes alongside your probationary period

Following successful completion of the initial period - Permanent Nights

• Monday to Thursday, 8:30pm - 7:00am
• 40 paid hours per week
• £18.65 per hour
• Additional £50 night shift allowance per shift
• Circa £49,000 annual earnings

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

You must already have previous CNC machining experience and be confident operating machinery within a production environment.

Ideally, you will have:

• Previous CNC setting and operating experience
• Knowledge and understanding of 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining
• Experience using Renishaw probing
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Experience making basic CNC programme and tool table edits
• Good knowledge of tooling and cutters
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Good attention to detail and a quality-focused approach
