Job summary

Planet Recruitment has a vacancy for a CNC Operator in Oxford, joining a busy production team. You will operate CNC machinery, set up equipment, load materials and perform quality checks on finished components.

We are seeking someone with practical mechanical aptitude, able to read technical drawings and work both independently and as part of a team. The role offers a 9-5 working day, a supportive environment and training opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality checks.
  • Experience with CNC setting is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Set up and prepare machinery for production.
  • Load and unload materials and monitor production.
  • Carry out quality checks on finished components.
  • Follow drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe workshop and support the team.

The Role

We are looking for a CNC Operator to join their busy production team. This is a hands‑on role involving the operation of CNC machinery, preparing materials, monitoring production and ensuring finished products meet the required quality standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with the wider production team and play an important role in maintaining efficient workshop operations.

Responsibilities
  • Operating CNC machinery safely and efficiently
  • Setting and preparing machinery for production
  • Loading and unloading materials
  • Monitoring machines throughout the production process
  • Carrying out quality checks and measurements on finished componentsIdentifying and reporting any issues with machinery or finished products
  • Following technical drawings, specifications and production instructions
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
  • Supporting the wider production team where required
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience operating CNC machinery
  • Good understanding of manufacturing and workshop processes
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, punctual and safety-conscious
  • CNC setting experience would be advantageous but is not essential
