Job summary

Firmin Recruit Ltd. on behalf of a well‑established manufacturing client near Tonbridge, Kent, seeks an experienced CNC Machinist to join a growing factory expansion. The role covers operating CNC lathes and mills to produce components, with emphasis on precision and quality.

You will use 3D models to generate CAM code (Inventor CAM) and collaborate with design to develop fixtures for machining, while maintaining ISO9001 standards and meeting production deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Heidenhain controllers is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Collaborative team player to meet deadlines and maintain quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC controlled lathes and 2 mills to produce components.
• Generate CNC codes from 3D models using Inventor CAM.
• Assist design with fixturing/jigs for machining.

Firmin Recruit are delighted to be working with one of our established manufacturing clients based near Tonbridge, Kent. Due to continued growth and ongoing investment means they now have a brand-new factory until which will double production capacity and throughput. This period of expansion is a very exciting time for our client and due to this business growth, they are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist.

Hours: 8. 30 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday

The Role:

• The candidate will work within a toolroom department operating a CNC controlled lathes and 2 mills to generate components required for tooling or directly by their customers
• Most components are designed in-house and will require the successful candidate to use 3D model to generate the matching code within inventor CAM software, which feeds directly into the machines.
• You will also, in collaboration with the design department, aid the design of any fixturing or jigs that may be required to allow machining of the components.

Suitable Candidate:

• The suitable candidate will need to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
• Have experience of Heidenheim controllers is desirable but not essential
• Produce small, complex batches of components to high quality standards
• Experience of working from engineering drawings
• Ability to work within a team to ensure deadlines are met

Desirable Skills:

• Be familiar with LEAN/5s Principles
• Have experience in inventor CAM or similar software
• Experience of design and manufacture of machine fixturing
• Experience of sliding head lathes would be advantageous
• Experience of working within ISO9001 quality systems.
