Job summary

Firmin Recruit is partnering with a manufacturing client near Tonbridge, Kent, to recruit a skilled CNC Machinist. The role involves operating CNC lathes and two mills to produce tooling components, using 3D models to program code and coordinating with design for fixturing needs.

You will join a growing factory during expansion, with opportunities for development. A team-oriented environment and emphasis on quality are highlighted in the role description.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with Heidenhain controllers.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and working from 3D models.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC controlled lathes and 2 mills to produce components.
• Generate CNC code from 3D models using Inventor CAM software.
• Collaborate with design to aid fixture/jig design for machining.

Job description

Firmin Recruit are delighted to be working with one of our established manufacturing clients based near Tonbridge, Kent. Due to continued growth and ongoing investment means they now have a brand-new factory until which will double production capacity and throughput. This period of expansion is a very exciting time for our client and due to this business growth, they are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist.

Hours: 8. 30 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday

The Role:

• The candidate will work within a toolroom department operating a CNC controlled lathes and 2 mills to generate components required for tooling or directly by their customers


• Most components are designed in-house and will require the successful candidate to use 3D model to generate the matching code within inventor CAM software, which feeds directly into the machines.


• You will also, in collaboration with the design department, aid the design of any fixturing or jigs that may be required to allow machining of the components.

Suitable Candidate

• The suitable candidate will need to have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within a manufacturing environment


• Have experience of Heidenheim controllers


• Produce small, complex batches of components to high quality standards


• Experience of working from engineering drawings


• Ability to work within a team to ensure deadlines are met

Desirable Skills:

• Be familiar with LEAN/5s Principles


• Have experience in inventor CAM or similar software
  
• Experience of design and manufacture of machine fixturing


• Experience of sliding head lathes would be advantageous


• Experience of working within ISO9001 quality systems.
