Job summary

Holt Engineering in Poole, Dorset, is seeking an experienced Offline Programmer to join the manufacturing engineering team. You will develop CNC programmes for 3-, 4- and 5-axis machines and support production to improve efficiency and quality.

The role requires interpreting complex drawings, CAD/CAM experience (ideally Fusion 360), and a proactive approach to process improvement within a lean manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Offline Programmer.
• Background in CNC milling and turning.
• Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
• Experience with CAD/CAM software, ideally Fusion 360.
• Knowledge of multi-axis machining and tooling strategies.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles.
• Good problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Confident communication across teams.

Responsibilities

• Create and develop offline CNC programmes for 3, 4 and 5-axis machine tools.
• Produce tool definitions, setup sheets and tooling plans.
• Prove out programmes and support their transition into production.
• Develop and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and quality.
• Define production routings, tooling, workholding and inspection requirements.
• Work with quality teams to ensure inspection plans are met.
• Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to new product introduction and lifecycle planning.
